Who is Ethnic Harvest.org?
The vision and name "Ethnic Harvest" grew out of a network of ethnic churches in the Seattle area known as the Ethnic Harvest Briefing. For more than 10 years, the Briefing has held an informal 3-hour meeting twice a year to bring together individuals who work with internationals in the Seattle area.
The vision of the Ethnic Harvest Briefing is to plant a church for every one of the more than 100 language groups living in the Puget Sound area.
Inspired by this vision and by the testimonies of ethnic pastors in Seattle, the Ethnic Harvest web site was developed to help inspire and equip Christians across America to get involved in cross-cultural ministry in their hometown.
The Ethnic Harvest web site is a non-denominational, evangelical ministry which acts as a "neutral hub" to resource and connect Christians for cross-cultural ministry. Our vision is to glorify Jesus Christ by serving ethnic churches in North America, equipping Christians for cross-cultural ministry, and providing a forum where people who serve internationals can dialogue and share ministry ideas.
We are a tentmaker (volunteer) organizaton, working in partnership with Seattle-area churches.
Ethnic Harvest is growing into a network of independent affiliate ministries across America. If you have a heart for cross-cultural ministry, why not organize an Ethnic Harvest-style meeting in your city?
It is a great way to connect with other churches and individuals in your community, and you will be inspired and blessed to hear how God has been working in the lives of people from every ethnic background.
The
Ethnic Harvest network began in the Seattle area in 1986 as the vision of
Cal Uomoto from World Relief Seattle and Pastor Chris Thomas. Pastor Thomas was born in India and now serves as a missionary with the Division of Home Missions of Assemblies of God.
The article Ethnic Church Planting: A Documentation of the Work of Dr. Chris Thomas presents some of the lessons learned by Dr. Thomas as he planted 14 churches in different language groups in the Seattle area.
World Relief is active in the resettlement of refugees in the United States.
The Ethnic Harvest web site is an independent affiliate of the Ethnic Harvest Briefing, and has been designed and developed by Cascadia Communications, consultants in web design.
